When clients hear about in home family photography they usually think of new parents gazing at their snuggly little newborn, snoozing away in their crib. While there are a million reasons why in home family photography is fantastic for newborns, I love them for families, too! Gina and Chris invited me into their gorgeous home for their very first family photos with their precious little boy, Leo and I’m so thrilled with how these turned out.
In home family photography is all about real life in your home. It doesn’t have to be picture perfect (though, Gina & Chris really do have a magazine-worthy home). This is a way to document a day in your life. Do you ever sit around and reminisce on the little moments in life with your fam? I don’t mean the big things like wedding days, big vacations, or birthdays. I mean pancake breakfasts with your littles, snuggling on the couch laughing together after a long day, dancing in the kitchen after bedtime- the really sweet stuff. Those beautiful, little moments (even the not-so-picture-perfect ones) are the focus of in-home sessions.
Leo was having a rough time during our session, and Gina was bummed because she was worried I wouldn’t be able to get a good shot. Rest assured, if your child has a meltdown during photos, he or she wasn’t the first and they definitely won’t be the last. It’s completely normal and totally okay! I snap plenty of photos to make sure there are smiles in your gallery. Let them be little- it’s all going to work out in the end. In fact, Gina told me when she received their final gallery that there were happy tears involved. Those are the types of messages that make my whole day!
I thoroughly enjoyed getting to hang out with this family! Chris & Gina have such amazing chemistry, and they’re great with Leo. It was so much fun to get to see them interact and play with him. There were lots of laughs shared during the course of our shoot and it made for a great day. It was clear right off the bat that their home is full of love and it was my goal to capture that love in these photos.
It is such a gift to be able to meet new clients and be welcomed into their homes. Chris and Gina, thank you for allowing me to hang out with the three of you and trusting me with the honor of capturing your first family photos. It was truly my pleasure!
