As an Austin, Texas newborn photographer, one of my biggest passions is telling stories of growing families. I truly understand the importance of capturing those fleeting first few moments with your babe, which is why newborn photography has truly become something I am passionate about. This first session is so much more than capturing those sweet baby toes but also capturing the beauty of parenthood- the messy, the hard, the joy-filled, love-soaked moments. Here are some things I want you to know if you’re interested in booking a newborn story with me.
Austin is known for its beauty year round which means clients often have the benefit of choosing between an in-home session or an outdoor location. Newborn sessions are always baby led, meaning we want babe to feel comfortable and safe during our session. If baby is hungry, we’ll take feeding breaks. If baby needs to be changed, we’ll take changing breaks. We don’t have a timeline, and you never need to stress about baby not behaving a certain way. Homes that allow natural lighting make a wonderful option for our session. However, if a home lacks great natural lighting, there is always the option of using a natural light studio or booking an outdoor session. All options are wonderful and totally up to families to choose from. A client closet is also available to both Mama and baby for newborn sessions.
Newborn photography sessions are super popular here in Austin, Texas. Families should begin to book their sessions within the first or second trimester at the latest to ensure availability. When scheduling for your newborn session, we “schedule” for your due date. However, staying in communication will allow us to select a better date for your session. Once babe arrives, we will coordinate a date and time that is usually 2-4 weeks after birth. The day of your session, it’s always best to have a change of baby clothes in mind, in case of an accident. If you’d like to document your breastfeeding journey, you’ll feed baby right at the beginning of our session. If you are not breastfeeding or aren’t interested in documenting breastfeeding, you’ll feed baby 10-15 minutes prior to our session.
Capturing families in Austin, Texas is always an honor and the best part is watching their little ones grow. While I connect with many new families each year, I also treasure the families who have allowed me to document their family year after year. Big thanks to the ones who trust me over and over again!
