Okay, I know we all love a fall family photo session, right? It’s the perfect Texas weather, we avoid the humidity and heat and get those beautiful fall sunsets. But, as an Austin lifestyle photographer with a few years under my belt, I have to tell you… winter family photos are just SO beautiful! This was my second time working with the Andersons but the first time as a family of four, and I am so happy they weren’t afraid of winter photos. It was truly the most glorious evening! So, while this list could (probably) be endless, here are 3 reasons why winter family photos are a must!

Would you believe it if I told you my winter clients actually had significantly better weather than the majority of my fall clients this past season? Winters in Texas are actually pretty dang pleasant, and the sunsets in the winter are probably the best of the year.

Fall and winter family photo styling just might be my favorite! Layering is so fun and always add the best texture to pictures, and everyone loves wearing their boots. During the fall and winter, choose deep blues, greens, and warm reds to really embrace the cozy winter vibes! If it’s a cooler day, beanies and scarves are great additions.

The location we chose for this session is one that is almost always packed with people during other seasons, but for the Anderson fam’s session, they had it totally to themselves. This is pretty normal in the winter! Most places are more quiet, and you get to fully explore and enjoy without crowds.
